Organix Obsession...

The title says it all!
Need I say more?
Yes, actually I DO!!!
Usually I'm ranting but I have to say that this post is going to be full of ravings and praise singing for my new found love.

To say I have an obsession would probably be an understatement but not too far from the truth. My 2 favorite shopping places have always been the supermarket and the pharmacies...all over the world. I love anything that leaves me smelling good and edible (yes, whatever your thinking, it's probably true). My "signature" scents would have to be tropical and beachy- hints of coconut (not coconut oil type more cocoa buttery type), shea butter, vanilla and sometimes mangoes. I want to smell like a holiday!

Long before Moroccan Argan oil was even popular, I used to go all the way to the USA and bring bottles and bottles back even though it costs an arm and a leg. And then this year I went to Israel and brought back the mother load because Moroccan Argan oil is damn cheap there! Recently, I started to see the Organix range in Watson's and I got curious. While the price was a little bit steep ($14.90-$15.90 for 385ml), I figured perhaps its for a worthy cause, what with it being organic and all that.

One night, as I was crawling to bed, I took a whiff of my bf's hair and it smelled like my Vanilla Shampoo!!! NoOOooOOOooo!!!!! Why? They discontinued it and now I won't have nice smelling hair! I had to get him his own shampoo! So, to Watsons I went and the whole shelf was staring right at me. I started with the Teatree Mint shampoo for him and the Moroccan Argan oil conditioner for me. That night, we both stepped out of the shower with smiles on our face!

The shampoos smell heavenly! The Teatree Mint shampoo leaves your scalp feeling fresh and tingly clean yet there is a sweetness to the minty smell. The Moroccan oil conditioner left my hair feeling soft without the weighed down feeling. The tips of my hair are damaged from bleaching and had lost the natural soft curls, but with the prolonged use of the conditioner, I started to see my curls come back. Joy!

So today, I decided to step into Watsons and purchase a scent for every mood. Call me obsessed but I walked out with 6 bottles! This time I'm going to try the Vanilla Conditioner, the Cherry Blossom shampoo and conditioner and the Awapuhi Ginger Dry Styling Oil. It was just so hard to pick just one! Good news is that Watsons is having a year end promotion- 2 for 20% off (!) on the whole Organix range. So pop in and stock up because it makes showers much more enjoyable!

PS: They also have a body range which I shall be tempted to try pretty soon. Apparently there is also a Teatree for the face range but I have yet to see that on shelves. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough.

PPS: I was not paid for this post and neither was it endorsed. While it would be nice to receive freebies in the mail for me to rave about, this one was done totally on my own account only because I love it so much and I feel compelled to share my new found love!

Luxury of Time

Oh to finally be able to sit in front of the computer and let my fingers fly over the keyboard and simply type my thoughts down! Despite my resolve to be prudent with my blog postings, it feels like its been forever since my last blog post and it probably has. Good news is that there is a gap in my schedule and so here I am doing what I enjoy doing.

December means having visitors in and out of the country visiting and me entertaining. This means lots of eating and very little time to myself. I'm getting nicely fattened up like most people do over this festive season but I also have so much to share with all the foodies out there.

Today I was able to make it back to Tiong Bahru Bakery at Raffles City and have a nice sit down brunch without a care in the world. It least now I know that the name of my favorite "better than sex" pastry is called  Kouign Aman. I ordered quite a fair bit this time and had to take away my pastry but I couldn't resist taking a couple of bites before we left the place.

Brunch was quite delicious and while we probably ordered more than we should have it was good to be able to try the rest of the items on display. As we queued and made our selections, the waitress asked if we would like to try the soup and that the soups were VERY nice. So we took one each of the Pumpkin Soup and the White Bean Cappuccino (which was supposed to be like a mushroom soup). The Pumpkin Soup was smooth and flavorful but I prefer savory soups so I probably won't order it again. The "mushroom" soup was basically pureed white bean with truffle oil. It didn't taste as mushroom-y as I'd hope it would but tasted very bean-y (white bean?). I conclude that I shall save my calories for more Kouign Aman in the future.

However, hats off to their selection of sandwiches! They have something for everyone. What I loved about the sandwiches, was that each and everyone had a generous helping of greens on it. We ordered the Sun-dried Tomato and Bacon on Paprika bread and the Tuna Focaccia. I personally prefer soft bread so my Paprika/Bacon bun hit the spot. The combination of salty bacon, the tangy taste of mustard and the sweet sour of the sun-dried tomatoes accompanied with the softness of the paprika bun...What a mouthful of flavors! For 3 people who ordered too much, our bill came up to SGD$56. The coffees- while pleasing to the eye are nothing to rave about.

I have to say that for a person who prefers Asian carbs (rice/noodles/etc), today has been a day of bread, bread and more bread. I conclude, that a french bakery is only as good as the croissants they make!!! No contest there...the soft, buttery, flakiness...puts a smile on my face and the inches on my hips!

Urgh...

This photo couldn't have described it better. It's mid week and I am drained! Feel like I need more hours in a day but even if I had it, it probably won't be enough. Have been so bogged down with work I feel like i'm losing myself. I may even have to start putting "reminders" in my planner to give and share a little love with the other half.

What irks me the most- is that when i'd most like to crawl into bed with a good book and slowly drift into a slumber, I have to attend a party...Yes this is a true sign of age- when i'd rather be home with a book than to go hobnob with people on Ladies night.

As much as i'd love to go on and on about everything and nothing, my brains are fried.
Love to the world and its people.
Over
&
OUT!

PS: We have the ZoukOut weekend coming up and its gonna be hella busy for me...God please please give me the strength to pull through! Also, friends visit tomorrow onward, so the next post will surely be about: FOOD!

Hey! Who stole my weekend!!!

Ugh so it's Monday again...SHOOT ME!!! I woke up this morning and wondered where the weekend went.
Despite having lost out on the downtime, I sure had an emotionally challenging past weekend. Phew! Good outcome is that I made a bit of progress relationship wise and a little bit of self realization that I am now FAT!!! No- this is not the typical women whining kind of thing, its the kind of thing that makes you freak out have a nervous breakdown, be miserable and swear to start wearing kaftans!

Let's start with the good. Lack of sleep and over working made me the nastiest bitch this last week. This of course led to petty arguments and many tears spilled for nothing. Then it led to the conversation about how he said he couldn't live with so much arguing and that no way he will proposed if this is how its gonna be, what if it gets worst etc etc! After some thought, I realized that we don't wait for it to be perfect, we don't wait for the dust to settle and then move. In the past, many have made the foolish mistake of getting married on a whim and people are still doing it now, every day, every hour, every second. They made that decision on a feeling- a feeling that it was right, a feeling called "love", a feeling that makes you feel all fuzzy inside and then...BAM! WTF...too late!

Its all about choices in the end. The one person who meets your ideals (or not), the one who fills your empty days (whether its annoying or not), the one you choose to forgive no matter how many times a mistake is made (there is a limit with me mind u!), just that one...that one person YOU chose that can do no wrong in your eyes.

Also through this past weekend did I find the inspiration to pen a little "sonnet" requested by a friend who is about to enjoy holy matrimony. Have a read here: Sam Speaks

So i'm gonna save the fat rants for another day and try to make some conscious daily lifestyle choices. I hope my fat rant will never manifest itself unless in the past tense!

TGIF!!!

Yes its finally Friday, well past midnight but nonetheless. Unfortunately a busy weekend has just begun but I guess with enough sleep I shall take it by the horns and ride it all the way to Monday :( at which point I shall be praying for the coming Friday which would also happen to be the ZoukOut 2012 weekend, a 2 day party which for once I am too exhausted to even look forward too! Age is for sure catching up and it ain't funny.
Honestly though, I think this whole nightlife thing is getting really old for me! I'd much rather be invited to a restaurant launch party and the likes instead of a DJ party!

So I've spent the whole week setting up one too many Christmas trees and it's honestly killing Christmas for me! Thank God I had my boyfriends' sister in town and she has been such an angel with helping me do everything! We will be stuck in the Atria/ION vicinity while everything gets sorted with the store which will open hopefully by Sunday. Been trying to be as helpful as possible but its really draining. And since we have a guest in town, I hope to see more than just the inside of the malls!

Speaking of which, it seems like the water park in Singapore has opened up! I hope to have a shot at that this weekend and hopefully post some pics ASAP! Things to do in Singapore eh? Indeed...
